A 30-year-old woman has been arrested in Windhoek after she was caught selling stolen Mr Price clothing worth over N$161,000 at the Okuryangava Stop & Shop open market.
According to the Namibian Police (Nampol), the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off from Mr Price store managers who noticed their branded items being sold as second-hand clothing. The police immediately launched a sting operation, which led to the discovery of at least 16 bags filled with new Mr Price apparel at the woman’s residence.
Chief inspector Katrina Naukushu, head of community policing in the Khomas Region, confirmed the arrest, stating, “We have arrested two Namibian women. One, aged 30, is directly connected to the stolen goods and remains in custody. The second suspect, a 22-year-old woman, was released pending further investigation.”
Senior inspector Silas Shipandeni praised community members for alerting both law enforcement and Mr Price management. He also urged the public to avoid buying items from unverified street vendors.
“We advise all residents to refrain from purchasing goods without receipts or from sellers who cannot prove ownership. Supporting such trade fuels criminal activity,” said Shipandeni.
