UFC 319 Heats Up: Aaron Pico vs. Lerone Murphy Confirmed as Co-Main Event

Chicago, August 16 — The fight card for UFC 319 just got even more explosive.

Featherweight standout Aaron Pico will now face Lerone Murphy in the newly confirmed co-main event. This matchup brings together two of the division’s most dangerous rising stars in what’s shaping up to be a high-stakes clash with title implications.

Pico’s Power Return

Originally slated to fight in Abu Dhabi, Pico was pulled from that card after his opponent withdrew. Rather than scramble for a short-notice replacement, officials shifted him to the Chicago event — and the move might pay off in fireworks.

Pico holds a 13–4 professional record, and is riding a hot streak with 9 wins in his last 10 fights. His only recent setback came from a shoulder injury, not an opponent’s fists. Known for his explosive striking and wrestling pedigree, Pico is now looking to make a statement on one of the year’s biggest cards.

Murphy's Unbeaten Reign

Across the cage will be Lerone Murphy, a fighter who’s yet to taste defeat. Sitting at 16–0–1, Murphy’s lone blemish — a draw in his UFC debut — only sharpened his skills. Since then, he’s gone 8–0, most recently defeating Josh Emmett and Dan Ige, two respected veterans of the division.

Murphy’s calm, calculated style contrasts perfectly with Pico’s aggression. It’s a collision of technique, power, and momentum.

Stacked Fight Card

This co-main event supports an already stacked UFC 319 lineup, headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Dricus du Plessis and unbeaten force Khamzat Chimaev.

Also on the card:

⚡ Geoff Neal vs. Carlos Prates

⚡ Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page

⚡ Tim Elliott vs. Kai Asakura

From top to bottom, this is a can’t-miss night for fight fans. Expect action, surprises, and potential title challengers to emerge. Read more
